Oscilloscope (8 Channel)
Use DigiSim Logic Lab's 8-channel Oscilloscope to inspect eight digital traces, buses, and control sequences with event-timed capture and configurable triggering.
Overview
The DigiSim Logic Lab 8-channel Oscilloscope is a passive digital timing instrument for comparing a bus or a group of control signals. It records D0–D7 against simulator time without driving the circuit.
Exact DigiSim.io Implementation
The capture service receives published simulator transitions rather than polling at a fixed sample
rate. Each edge carries a nanosecond timestamp and one of four digital states: LOW, HIGH, unknown
(X), or high impedance (Z). Each channel retains up to 8,192 edges in a ring buffer.
Timebase and Trigger Controls
- The horizontal timebase follows a 1-2-5 sequence from 1 ns/div to 5 s/div.
ROLL,AUTO,NORMAL, andSINGLEprovide continuous, automatically triggered, normally triggered, and one-shot acquisition modes.- Edge triggering accepts a selected channel and a rising, falling, or either edge, with adjustable trigger position and holdoff.
- The optional pattern trigger compares D0–D7 with a mask of
0,1, and don't-care values. All non-masked inputs must be connected and in definite states for a match. - Each trace can be shown or hidden independently; visibility does not alter the connected signal.
Interpretation and Limits
- The instrument displays digital states and simulator timing. It does not measure analog voltage, probe loading, physical propagation delay, or protocol fields.
- Pattern matching is a level condition evaluated after same-delta signal updates; it is not a serial protocol decoder.
- A ring-buffer overflow means older retained edges were discarded. It does not indicate an electrical overload.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do I need 8 channels?
The eight D0–D7 inputs are passive probes with independent visibility controls. The 8-channel model supports edge triggering and an optional 0/1/don't-care pattern trigger across the channels; it does not decode a bus protocol automatically.
Does the 8-channel scope use the same acquisition model?
Yes. It records LOW, HIGH, X, and Z transitions in simulator time and provides the same 1 ns/div to 5 s/div timebase range and ROLL, AUTO, NORMAL, and SINGLE modes as the 2-channel scope. It does not sample analog voltage.
