Clock
Use DigiSim's Clock as a periodic digital source for sequential circuits. It produces a 50% duty-cycle LOW/HIGH waveform at a configurable 0.1–20 Hz simulation frequency.
Overview
The Clock is a periodic digital source for edge-driven components. It alternates between driven LOW and HIGH with a fixed 50% duty cycle.
Frequency
- Frequency is configurable from 0.1 Hz through 20 Hz and defaults to 1 Hz.
- One complete period contains equal LOW and HIGH intervals.
- Flip-flops, registers, counters, and other positive-edge components update on the modeled LOW-to-HIGH transition.
Simulation Boundary
The frequency controls simulation pacing. The component does not model an analog oscillator, phase noise, clock-tree skew, voltage, rise/fall time, duty-cycle adjustment, or device-specific setup and hold limits.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a clock signal in digital circuits?
A clock is a periodic timing signal. DigiSim's model alternates a driven LOW and HIGH level; rising-edge components such as flip-flops, registers, and counters update on each LOW-to-HIGH transition.
How do I configure clock frequency in DigiSim?
Select the Clock and set its frequency in the properties panel. DigiSim clamps the setting to 0.1–20 Hz and uses 1 Hz by default; this is simulation pacing, not an analog oscillator model.
