This is an original, reference-guided teaching model of anine-vane variable-geometry turbochargerconfiguration. It is not a scan, OEM CAD file, manufacturing drawing, or calibrated engine model.

Confirmed distinction: nine nozzle vanes.

The maker’s own interchange bulletin distinguishes this nine-vane unit from a visually similar eleven-vane unit. They are not interchangeable simply because they look similar.

Why this unit?

The compact, single-shaft diesel variable-geometry architecture makes energy transfer, radial-to-axial flow, journal support, and boost regulation visible in one assembly. It provides a specific, identifiable reference rather than a mixture of turbocharger types.

What is not claimed

No verified, comparable global installed-base ranking by individual turbo part number was found. This app therefore doesnotcall this unit the world’s most-installed model.

Manufacturer comparison and metric discipline

The maker’s technical bulletin supports this specific vane configuration. Other suppliers document broad OE coverage and several different boosting architectures. One supplier reports100 million cumulative turbochargers in 2020—a company-wide historical total, not units of a single model or units currently in use. Those statements cannot be converted into a valid model-level ranking.

Reconstructed, not measured

Housing envelopes, manifold clocking, blade surfaces, clearances, oil drillings, bearing variant, actuator dimensions and lever geometry are estimates. The 32.9 / 49 mm compressor and 43 / 35.9 mm turbine diameters are model inputs, not certified OEM measurements.

Operating-model limits

A torque/inertia model produces spool-up and coast-down. Air flow is quasi-steady. Efficiencies, exhaust temperature, losses, inertia, charge-cooler response and the boost controller are illustrative. There is no compressor map, surge or choke model, combustion solver, CFD, thermal-stress model, elastohydrodynamic bearing solution or oil-pressure fault simulation.

Read the visualization correctly

The wheels share one shaft and one rendered angle. Their visible speed is deliberately reduced; the physical-model rpm is reported separately. Section faces are rebuilt from mesh-plane intersections. Isolation views hide housings for access; exploded views hold the operating state. Journal films are shown schematically, without resolving their pressure distribution or bearing spin.
