New apparatus state: clears the drum and sheet and cools the fuser. The document and conditions are kept.

Re-simulates this sheet from a cold start with the current conditions. This is not a physical rewind: warm-up and jam interlocks still apply.

Laser Printer

A laser writes an invisible charge image; toner, transfer and heat make it a print.

This laboratory models a generic monochrome, negative-toner laser printer rather than a particular manufacturer's machine. A deterministic grid of drum cells rotates through charging, laser exposure, development, transfer, cleaning and erase. Each cell stores a surface potential and a toner mass, and the output page is built only from toner that actually transfers from those cells, never from the source image.

Warm-up and paper jams are real interlocks. The sheet waits until the thermistor reports a fuser near its target; a blocked exit stops every mechanically coupled roller. The fuser uses a lumped thermal model and a heuristic temperature-dependent adhesion law, so a cool print can look complete and still rub off.

The raster is a coarse 256 × 360 teaching bitmap with binary halftoning. The beam, charge markers and toner particles are enlarged, and the infrared laser is drawn in magenta. The f-theta lens is an idealized scan mapping, development and transfer use threshold and saturation laws, and the particle microscope is an enlarged illustration with its own study clock, not molecular dynamics or a measured micrograph.
